With the idea of being masculine comes the expectations of confidence. Men are expected to be confident and be the first to make a move when it comes to a relationship be the first to propose a future, be the first to provide. Even though these stereotypes are slowly fading there’s still new expectations of what today’s men should act and be like. “White, Straight, Fuckboy” as someone described this is today’s male social norm.
The idea that men should always want and desire sex has always been around and is expected of a man, that is said to come with confidence. This advert depicts men having the confidence to look and desire another man in a sexual form. These men don’t carry the expected gay qualities of being feminine as they appear straight looking, so why is it that a man can’t be masculine and gay?
“If you like boys you have to be a girl, only girls like boys” If you like boys doesn’t change who we are its just a preference. Being a girl is being feminine and these qualities is what men should possess and should express, being feminine is not gay, you can be feminine and not be gay just as you can be the most masculine guy in the world and be gay.
