CONFIDENCE
#Myth1
The Myth that to be a man you have to be over confident in the way you act. Being masculine and a man is to be confident in yourself.
The dictionary defines confidence as:
Sure of oneself; having no uncertainty about one’s own abilities, correctness, successfulness, etc.; self-confident; bold
Society takes this to mean that men aren't allowed to have doubts about themselves and therefore always have to show confidence in the way they act and behave. Over confidence then comes across as a big ego and this is where expectations become stereotypical. Take the idea that most woman expect men to approach them to talk to, some men are shy too and don't like to make the first move, but society expects men to always show this over confident feature that can also come across as a 'cocky' guy.
Other times what happens is that these guys that aren't so confident are bullied for it, they are told to 'man up' and 'be a man' and can even become less confident in themselves because of this.
Confidence means to be confident in your self, that is true masculinity. Any guy that feels comfortable in his own skin is a masculine man because he is 'man enough' to accept him for who he is without making some one else feel less confident.
